YOU Are the CEO
Hey CEO?! Yea you! Yes, I said CEO, What? You’re not the CEO? Ahh, you might want to check again.
You are the CEO of a business of one. You see, unlike most other types of jobs, in sales we have a LOT of autonomy and therefore in essence we ARE the CEO of our sales territory. We get to pick when we make calls. We get to pick who we talk to. We get to create our own go to market strategy. We get to pick what information we are going to send. We get to create and execute on our own sales strategies. In many cases, we get to choose how much we’re going to charge. We get to decide which products we’re going to lead with.
We get to make a lot of decisions in sales, just like the CEO! ……… Like the CEO we live and die by our decisions. If we choose poorly, we suffer. If we don’t make enough calls, if we discount too much, if we target the wrong the prospects, if we lead with the wrong product, we fail and it’s our fault. There are no excuses in sales. As a salesperson you are a CEO of one so act like it.
