  • The Shame in Selling

    June 14, 2012

Why do people dismiss sales people?  Why do sales people want to be referred to by anything but a sales person? Account Executive, Account Representative, Account Manager are all monikers sales people beg to have in order to avoid having to have “sales” on their business card.

    It’s a shame really.

Sales people are enablers. If it weren’t for sales people nothing would get done, ideas wouldn’t spread, money wouldn’t exchange hands, products would’t be created. Everything would come to a screeching halt.

    Don’t believe me?

Ask yourself how far that great idea marketing had would go if no one could sell it. Ask yourself how much product your company could move if sales wasn’t selling it. Ask how many transactions would happen if there was nobody to influence our decisions and educate us on our options.

Sales is the grease to progress and the economy.  Sales makes it happen.

Maybe it’s time to take ownership of our greatness and stop hiding. We sell and there is no shame in that!

The world can thank us later.
