  • Successful Social Selling

    September 25, 2012

I met with someone the other day who is looking for some advice and direction on getting a job in tech sales. One of the questions he asked was, “knowing what I’m trying to do, what other suggestions do you have for me?”

My answer; Start a blog, get on Twitter, participate in Linkedin groups, get social.

There is nothing more beneficial to your business, your personal career or your ability to make your number than becoming social. I can’t emphasize it enough. Participating in social is quickly moving from an advantage to a must have to stay relevant and compete.

Matt Heinz author of Successful Social Selling gets it and wrote a great book to help you and/or your company get going.

Successful Social Selling lays-out in a quick and easy to follow way everything you or a company need to know to get the most out of social selling. Matt doesn’t spend much time selling you on the idea of social media. Very little of the book is dedicated to “why” you need to be on social. He assumes it’s a given and that the reader is ready to embrace the inevitable.

One of the biggest benefits of the book is Matt breaks down social selling and social based on what you would need it for and how you should go about it. Matt helps with how to find blog topics, what types of content get the most responses, how to use Twitter, how to get the CEO to blog and Tweet, how to gain influence, how to engage with customers and more. Matt cuts right to the important and valuable uses of social medial.

Social Selling doesn’t waste time with theory. It’s actionable. It’s written in blog form, or like a series of blog posts. Therefore it’s quick, easy to follow and packed with real actionable information.

I created the ebook, Twitter for Sales because I believe social is that important to the personal and professional success of sales people. Matt’s Successful Social Selling takes it to the next level.

I have two pieces of advice.

    1. Start getting social if you aren’t already. I think you are making a BIG mistake if you don’t.
    2. Get Successful Social Selling, it will take you less than 2 hours to read

Social is here to stay. Therefore you have a choice, fight it or use it to become even better. It’s up to you.
