I love this saying! Being a recruiter makes it obvious why I like it, but business owners and job seekers, I’m talking to you too. My goal as a recruiter is to make your life easier, so be calm and let us do our job. We can do our job best for you when we have great existing relationships with our clients and job seekers. The better we know our clients and what they are looking for the candidates to accomplish — the better we can do our job; finding the right people to fill your open jobs. Jobseekers: Recruiters will help you find a job and many times your dream job when you are the right person for the job, so give us the opportunity to help you. The job I’m calling you about today, may not be the job you want today, but take a minute to talk with me because the next time I call you, it could be the right position. Clients: Recruiters will speed up the hiring process and find you the “right” candidates if you give them good information. We are focused on finding candidates to fill your jobs and will look through the “haystacks of candidates to find the needle you’re looking for”. Let me tell you about how I assisted a candidate get out of the “black hole of web submittal” and get him the job he never thought he’d get with one of my best clients. I was looking for a .NET developer for one of my clients. I found a great candidate with all the experience my client was looking for. We had a great conversation about his experience and the client, then he dropped the bomb – he submitted himself last year to a position my client posted online, but was never contacted by the company. He figured they weren’t interested. I thought, hmm – maybe my client was too busy and didn’t notice his resume. I hesitated, but I had a great relationship with my client and decided to move forward with the candidate. I called my client and told him I had a great candidate, but he had submitted his resume to their company website and asked if he remembered seeing the resume. He said he hadn’t seen the resume but if I thought he was a good fit, he’d look at him. My candidate was a great fit for the position and the company, he interviewed, HE GOT HIRED and 3 years later still works for the company. If I hadn’t asked my client to look at him, he never would have been hired by this company, even though he had applied for the position. So, like I said in the beginning – KEEP CALM AND USE A RECRUITER.
